San Diego, CA – Katie Naumann named Chief Marketing Officer at Petco. As the daughter and granddaughter of veterinarians, it’s no surprise that Katie Nauman ended up in a job that deals with animals. Recently promoted to chief marketing officer of Petco, she has been instrumental in the retailer’s transformation beyond a store selling pet products into a full-scale health and wellness brand rooted in improving the lives of the furriest family members.

Formerly Head of Global Marketing for Z by HP at Hewlett-Packard, she joined Petco nearly 2 years ago and was promoted to VP of Integrated Marketing in May 2021. As CMO Nauman will set direction on Petco’s long term marketing agenda across ass areas of the business and will lead the company’s enterprise marketing strategy and functions. Since joining Petco nearly two years ago, she is credited with driving customer value and shifting the brand from a pet retailer to a total health and wellness partner for pet parents.

New York, NY – Elyse Lesley promoted to CMO of US Consumer Banking at Citi. Lesley, who held the position on an interim basis, is reporting to the head of Citi’s US Consumer Bank, Gonzalo Luchetti. She will have a dual reporting relationship with the Citi Chief Brand Officer, a position recently vacated by Carla Zakhem-Hassan who held it for three years until moving in November 2021 to JPMogan Chase as CMO.

A Citi 10-year veteran, Lesley will retain her most recent role as head of their US Consumer Partnerships and Franchise Development team. In promoting her to this role, Citi is prioritizing a data-oriented and digital-first approach to its expansion strategy. Before joining Citi, Lesley was previously head of marketing and sales strategy at Morgan Stanley and held a similar position at Wells Fargo’s Eastern Community Bank.

Nashville, TN – Kimberly Ito promoted to top marketing position, Director of Marketing, at Mitsubishi Motors North America. She was most recently senior manager, marketing communications. Before coming to Mitsubishi in 2016, Ito served as integrated marketing manager at Qantas and digital marketing manager at Tourism Australia. In her new post, she will oversee all marketing communications activities for MMNA in the United States, including print and digital advertising, creative development and deployment, strategic short- and long-range planning and integration of global marketing messages for the brand’s US market.

New York, NY — Bonobos CEO Micky Onvural Departs to Head Marketing and Communications at TIAA. The consumer brand veteran is expected to refine the massive financial services firm’s digital strategy. Onvural was CEO of Walmart’s online menswear company Bonobos unit before joining TIAA as chief marketing and communications officer. Onvural will promote its mission to provide lifetime income for its clients and improve its digital-first push. She will report to TIAA president & CEO Thasunda Brown Duckett and join the executive committee. 

Onvural joined New York-based Bonobos in 2016 and served as CMO and co-president before assuming the helm in 2018. 

Earlier, Onvural was VP-consumer marketing at Trulia, online real estate market; and head of global brand development at eBay.

Chicago, IL – Elizabeth Kennedy (Beth) is the new EVP of Strategy for The Motion Agency where she will lead creative development and positioning, launching and relaunching brands for the firm’s clients. She previously served in marketing, advertising and omnichannel roles at DDB and FCB.
New York, NY – Meghan Flynn joined The Food Group, a WPP company specializing in food and culinary marketing as Public Relations Director. She was previously director of Communications and Community at Specialty food retailer, The Fresh Market and has also held executive positions at Foodminds and Coyne PR.
Denver, CO – Emily Clarendon joins Marketing for Change as a senior Researcher. She was most recently Senior Director of Community Engagement and Qualitative Research at the Rocky Mountain Partnership with Girl Effect in Colorado.
Raleigh, NC – Jenny Pilewski has been promoted to EVP of French West Vaughan. Pilewski has been with FWV since 2004, most recently serving as senior vice president. She leads integrated marketing strategies across the agency for clients in the apparel, footwear and retail sectors, as well as overseeing campaigns for municipalities and governments, real estate developers, non-profits, and B2B and technology clients.
Marblehead, MA – Brooke Goodwin-Fullerton has been promoted to SVP at CGPR, a French West Vaughan company. Goodwin-Fullerton was previously a vice president at CGPR. She has also served as head of strategic partnerships and experiential marketing at the National Diamond Council and director of public relations at Garnier, a brand that is part of L’Oréal.
New York, NY – Judy Stecker has been appointed as senior vice president, U.S. healthcare media and public affairs lead at Hill+Knowlton Strategies. Stecker was most recently deputy chief of staff for operations and strategy at the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. At HHS, Stecker was the lead executive for all COVID-19 and Operation Warp Speed external outreach. She was previously executive director of media relations and strategic marketing at the American Enterprise Institute.
New York, NY – Kristin Molinari Cohen has been appointed chief marketing officer at sparks and honey, Omnicom’s cultural intelligence consultancy. Cohen has been with the agency since 2017, most recently serving as senior vice president, marketing and business development. She was integral in the launch of such new practice areas as the consultancy’s diversity, equity and inclusion practice, which started up last year. Earlier in her career, Cohen was publisher of food and travel magazine Saveur, in addition to working at Condé Nast and Travel + Leisure. In her new position, she will oversee all marketing initiatives including the development of public-facing intellectual property.
Washington, DC – Miranda Margowsky, has joined the Financial Technology Association as VP Communications. FTA is a nonprofit trade organization that champions the transformative role of financial technology for American consumers and businesses. As VP at Precision Strategies, an award-winning integrated strategy and marketing agency based in DC, she leveraged her background in politics and public affairs to provide strategic communications guidance to clients in the technology, health care, and financial services sectors. Earlier, Margowsky spent several years on Capitol Hill as a press secretary for members of Democratic leadership in the Senate and House. She also served as a spokesperson on Senator Debbie Stabenow’s winning re-election campaign in 2018. She earned a Master’s Degree in Global Policy from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and a Bachelor’s Degree in history from Harvard University.
Charlotte, NC – Courtland Madock has been appointed chief marketing officer at Brightspeed, which provides broadband and telecommunications services. Madock most recently served as vice president of marketing at UScellular, responsible for device and product management and operations, product strategy, lifecycle management, digital marketing, and customer experience programs. She began her career as an economist at the US Department of Labor. In her new post, Madock is responsible for all marketing and sales operations, including brand identity, product development, customer engagement, distribution strategy and digital experience.
Atlanta, GA – Claudia Lezcano has been promoted to SVP of US marketing at Church’s Chicken from VP of brand strategy and activation at the company. She previously handled product marketing at Celebrity Cruises. Earlier positions include head of marketing for the Miami Marlins and chief marketing officer for the Miami Dolphins. In her new role at Church’s, Lezcano will oversee brand strategy, creative, media and product R&D divisions across the US, reporting directly to President and CEO, Joe Christina.
Phoenix, AZ – Jen Roche has been named SVP, corporate content, communication and public relations at Advisor Group, a network of independent wealth management firms. Roche joins the company from AssetMark, where she served as VP, head of marketing and communications. She was previously SVP, product and sales marketing at LPL Financial and had operated her own firm, Jen Roche PR. In her new position, Roche will assume responsibility for streamlining and building Advisor Group’s corporate communications.
Munich, Germany – Jen Jones has been appointed as the first Chief Marketing Officer of commmercetools. She was most recently CMO for AI-based risk management platform Dataminr. Before that, she served as SVP of corporate marketing at Cision and director of industry product marketing at Oracle Marketing Cloud. At commercetools, Jones will focus on building the company’s brand while continuing to scale its growth.
Cambridge, MA — Jennifer Herron, has Joined the Genocea Biosciences Board of Directors. Currently CCO at ADC Therapeutics, Herron was CCO at ImmunoGen, President and EVP of Global Commercial, at MorphoSys US, and CCO at Ariad Pharmaceuticals. Earlier in her career, she held commercial leadership roles in major multinational pharmaceutical companies such as Bristol-Myers Squibb, Novartis Oncology and Smith Kline Beecham.

She spent 25 years at HBO, a role that grew two years ago to include oversight of HBO Sports communication efforts as VP of Media Relations. Los Angeles, CA — Emma Reeve appointed to Aadi Bioscience Board of Directors  Emma Reeve, an accomplished biopharmaceutical executive with more than 25 years of global financial experience across pharmaceutical, medical device and bio-pharma companies, was appointed to the board of directors of the clinical stage biopharmaceutical company which targets precision therapies for genetically-defined cancers with alterations in mTOR pathway genes. Reeve currently sits on the boards of PTC Therapeutics and privately held Ribon Therapeutics and is Audit Committee Chair at both companies. She was appointed in June 2021 to the board of Editas Medicine. Most recently, Ms. Reeve served as CFO of Constellation Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a development stage oncology company, prior to its acquisition by MorphoSys AG in 2021. She led Constellation’s initial public offering in 2018. Previously, she acted as interim Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Controller of Parexel International, a global biopharmaceutical services company, where she was responsible for all aspects of finance, investor relations, procurement, and facilities. Earlier in her career, Reeve served as Chief Financial Officer of both Inotek Pharmaceuticals and Aton Pharma. Additionally, she held senior finance and operational roles at Bristol-Myers Squibb, Merck, and Novartis. Reeve holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of London Imperial College and is a Chartered Accountant (ACA).

Winnetka, Illinois — Suzy Cirulis Steps Up to Caleres footwear as Senior VP Customer Marketing. She was most recently chief marketing officer at Crate and Barrel. Previously, she worked in customer relationship marketing with Gap Inc. and its Old Navy, Banana Republic, and Gap Outlet brands. In her new position, Cirulis will lead customer marketing efforts across the entire Caleres portfolio, including customer relationship marketing, insights and analytics, working with Caleres chief marketing officer Jennifer Olsen.

New York, NY — Stephanie Costner Moved to New York Edge as  VP of Curriculum Design and Instructional Technology. New York, NY–Jane Fraser is CEO of Citigroup, the Country’s Third Largest Bank. The first woman to lead a major financial institution in the US, Fraser has been at Citi for 16 years and previously ran the consumer bank, its biggest division. She succeeded Michael Corbat as Chief Executive.  Before becoming CEO she was President of Citi and CEO of the Global Consumer Bank responsible for all of Citi’s Consumer businesses, including Retail Banking and Wealth Management, Credit Cards, Mortgage and Operations and Technology in 19 markets. Before joining Citi, Fraser was a Partner at McKinsey & Company and started her career at Goldman Sachs in M&A in London. 

New York, NY- Kimberly Godwin Named President of ABC News. The veteran CBS News exec is the first Black woman to lead a major broadcast network’s news division.  She replaced James Goldston who left the network last January.  She oversees editorial and business operations for broadcast, digital, streaming and audio news across the organization.

Washington, DC—Lina M. Khan Chairs Federal Trade Commission. At the age of 32, Lina Khan is the youngest FTC chair ever appointed and has one of the most prominent voices calling for aggressive curbs on big company dominance.  Her role is immensely powerful, protecting consumers from bad business practices and companies from unfair competition.  Prior to heading the FTC, Khan was an Associate Professor of Law at Columbia Law School. She was also counsel to the U.S. House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Antitrust, Commercial, and Administrative Law. 

South San Francisco, CA — Julie Eastland, named the new President and CEO at Harpoon Therapeutics. She currently serves on the Board at Harpoon, a clinical-stage immunotherapy company whp clinical programs target new breakthrough treatments for cancer. and will continue in that role.  She was previously CFO and Chief Business Officer of Rainier Therapeutics and served in the same roles of Cascadian Therapeutics. At Harpoon, she succeeds Jerry McMahon, Ph.D.  Eastland most recently was COO/CFO of ReCode Therapeutics.

Cambridge, MA —    Dr. Yvonne Greenstreet Takes the Reins at Alnylam. Currently President and COO, roles she achieved in 2020,  Dr Greenstreet will be taking over as CEO from Dr. John Maraganore founding CEO, who will be stepping down at the pharmaceutical company, the largest RNAI company in the world.  He will continue on the board and as a consultant. Greenstreet joined Alnylam in 2016 and earlier served as head of Medicines Development at Pfizer.  She spent 18 years at GlaxoSmithKline in multiple roles, including chief of Strategy for R&D.

Bothell, Washington — Rachel Lenington. Promoted to COO at Athira Pharma. Currently the company’s Chief Technology officer and Head of Product Development Strategy, Lenington brings more than 20 years of biopharmaceutical leadership experience at leading organizations including Seagen Inc, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Amgen, with roles spanning R&D decision making, drug development and commercialization and partnership management. She will succeed Dr. Mark Litton in the role of COO.

San Francisco, CA–Karen Clyne, BlackBerry communications head, has joined BCW as EVP & Technology Practice Leader for North America. Clyne joined BlackBerry in 2019 after a three-year stint at MWWPR, which where she was executive VP, western region leader and Tech Chief. At BlackBerry, she set up the corporate communications structure and guided its global rebranding effort.

New York, NY — Nicola Mendelsohn Heads Up Advertising for Facebook’s Global Business Group. Named interim Group Head in June 2021,  Mendelsohn was VP of Facebook Global Business  Group for Europe, Middle East and Africa, based in  London; but will move to NYC for her new job. In her  new role she will work with ad agencies and brands to  communicate Facebook’s positions and educate  advertisers on its products. She will report to Marne  Levine, who recently became Facebook’s first Chief  Business Officer.

Waltham, MA– Megan Link joins Inkhouse as EVP & GM in charge of its New York Office. As EVP and general manager in “the media capital of the world,” she’ll focus on accelerating a new growth phase through business development, growing and managing the PR/Social Media and Content agency’s NY team and client base. Earlier, Link was an EVP at Ogilvy, a Group VP at Ruder Finn and spent 10 years at WE Communications. She’ll report to Beth Monaghan, CEO and founder of Inkhouse.

Washington, DC — Danielle Levy Joins JPA Health in Newly Established New York Office. She will be SVP of their Life Science practice. Most recently, Levy was executive director, corporate communications and corporate social responsibility at Purdue Pharma. Earlier, she held executive positions at Finn Partners, GCI Health, Edelman and Cooney Waters. At JPA, Levy will focus on corporate, product and business communications, issues management, corporate social responsibility and health communications programs.

Startup Businesses Receive Micro Cash

TechFW and TWU Choose First Women Entrepreneurs Education Awardees

Eight woman-owned, startup businesses have been selected to participate in one of two TechFW programs as the first Texas Woman’s University (TWU) Center for Women Entrepreneurs Education Award recipients. The Center for Women Entrepreneurs awarded $1,000 and $2,000 seed capital to women entrepreneurs as part of TechFW’s  ThinkLab™ startup accelerator or SmartStart™ business incubator programs.

TechFW is a 23-year-old startup accelerator in north Texas. It builds up, supports and educates tech entrepreneurs in an effort to equip the startups for success, bringing together trusted talent and robust resources.

The Center for Women Entrepreneurs is part of TWU’s Jane Nelson Institute for Women’s Leadership. The center provides the tools for women-owned businesses to succeed, including business advising, funding, networking and training.

Winners were chosen based on the following criteria:

  1. The founder is a female entrepreneur who is a major shareholder and decision-maker;
  2. The founder and business are in the state of Texas;
  3.  The business is a for-profit company;
  4. The founder must own, have licensed, or be working on proprietary technology, a trade secret, or an innovative way of doing business.
