With news about Neil Young and Joni Mitchell removing their music from Spotify in a protest against “irresponsible” vaccine misinformation on the platform we applaud Katie Couric for giving us the real skinny straight from the CDC in a conversation with Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control. They spoke about the newly identified “stealth” Omicron variant, when we can finally expect to get back to normal, whether we’ll need additional boosters, and much more. Trust a woman to get it done!
In a note on her official website titled “I Stand With Neil Young!,” Mitchell wrote: “I’ve decided to remove all my music from Spotify. Irresponsible people are spreading lies that are costing people their lives. I stand in solidarity with Neil Young and the global scientific and medical communities on this issue.”
Two years into the coronavirus pandemic, it’s understandable that many of us are growing tired of constantly living in a public health crisis. But Dr. Walensky, believes we can’t let our guard down just yet. Even though the Omicron wave is starting to slow down in some parts of the country, she emphasizes that hospitalizations are still high, and about 2,300 Americans are dying every day from the virus. “I certainly don’t like to see our death counts as high as they are,” she said. “Those continue to be tragic, with every single family they touch.”
